The school offers a wide variety of subjects for students to study. They are available at access level, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Standard Grade, Higher, and a wide range of Advanced Highers.
The typical student chooses eight subjects at the end of their second year to study for 2 years at either Standard Grade or Intermediate 1 level. Compulsory subjects at this stage include English, Mathematics, and a selection of one Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), one Social Science (History, Geography, Modern Studies), one Fine Art (Art & Design, Music, Home Economics, Technical), one Modern Language (French, Spanish), and one Business Study (Administration, Computing Studies, Accounting & Finance, Economics). The layout of the timetable enables flexibility, with students being able to choose two Sciences/Languages/Business Studies, depending on their strengths and preferences.
At the end of S4, those deciding to stay on, depending on their exam results from S4, progress to Intermediate 2 and Higher level. This time, only English is a compulsory academic subject, and an additional four subjects are chosen. The restrictions seen at S3/4 stage are dropped, with Science, Social Science, Language, Fine Art, and Business Study not being compulsory.
In S6, students have the choice to take Intermediate 2, Higher, or Advanced Higher subjects. At this stage, no subjects are compulsory, giving students free rein over their course of study, with free periods also being allowed.
Due to staff restrictions, only a few subjects can be offered at Advanced Higher internally, with students requesting others usually transferred outside the school for a few periods per week. Current Advanced Highers offered within timetable include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Music, French, & Art, with other courses being subject to intake and staffing.
S6 students are also offered the choice of less strenuous subjects. The school offers cake decorating (Int1/2), electronics (Int1), and travel and tourism (Int1). The school also run the IT industry standard qualification, the Cisco Networking Academy after school exclusively for S6 pupils. As well as this, S6 Enterprise, Community Involvement, Experience, and Peer Support are also offered, so as to prepare students for the World of Work.
The school also has 5 houses each named after the five Roman Catholic saints linked to All Saints. Each house has a head, which is the pupil support teacher, and the pupils are sorted into the houses by surname. The Houses play an important part in Student Life - their Head of House usually acts as the pinnacle of discipline and moral support within school, while House assemblies are recurring. The inter-House Championship also takes place each year, encouraging friendly competition in school.
